Waarom Nederland — waarom nu?
Nederland heeft een lange traditie van nieuwsgierigheid, innovatie en vooroplopen. Van de ontdekkingsreizigers uit de Gouden Eeuw tot de ingenieurs van de TU Delft — Nederlanders zijn nooit bang geweest om anders te denken en een voorbeeld te zijn voor de rest van de wereld.
Toch loopt Nederland in de veterinaire geneeskunde achter op veel buurlanden als het gaat om acupunctuur als aanvullende behandeling. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Scandinavië, Duitsland en ver daarbuiten is veterinaire acupunctuur een vanzelfsprekend onderdeel van de klinische praktijk. De wetenschap is solide. De resultaten spreken voor zich.
Het is tijd voor een inhaalslag — en om weer voorop te lopen.
Dat is de visie achter de SNVA en de Veterinary Acupuncture SNVA Foundation Course 2026. Niet om te vervangen wat we al goed doen, maar om het aan te vullen. Om dierenartsen de tools te geven voor vragen die de reguliere geneeskunde alleen niet altijd kan beantwoorden. Om dieren de zorg te geven die ze verdienen.
De eerste stap begint je kennis en kunde uitbreiden met deze basis cursus.

Why the Netherlands — why now?

Yet in veterinary medicine, the Netherlands has been slower than many neighbouring countries to embrace acupuncture as a complementary treatment. In the UK, Scandinavia, Germany and beyond, veterinary acupuncture is an established part of clinical practice. The science is solid. The results speak for themselves.
It is time for the Netherlands to catch up — and to lead.
That is the vision behind the SNVA and the Veterinary Acupuncture SNVA Foundation Course 2026. Not to replace what we already do well, but to add to it. To give veterinary surgeons the tools to answer questions that conventional medicine alone cannot always answer. To give animals the care they deserve.
